Is it acceptable for men to wear skirts and sarongs?

I ask this on behalf of Mr. Gorgeous Fluffpot who bought a sarong when we were on holiday last year. Now we're off again to the tropics and he isn't sure whether to pack it - will he look daft on the beach (he has gorgeous and fluffy legs) or will he look fashionable?. Please reply quickly as Mr. GorgeousFluffpot is holding his sarong and looking at his suitcase and is in a bit of an indecisive haze as to what to do.
