Help with red lipstick?

I'm going to be wearing a very dark red lipstick for prom (about this color:http://www.cosmogirl.com/cm/cosmogirl/images/burgundy-lipstick-gtl021207-240x312.jpg) I want to take a lot of pictures there, but the flash makes the lipstick look like clown red. The lipstick is kind of metallic, and I was wondering if maybe just the shine of it did this and there's another kind I can get that won't do that? Either way, is there any way to avoid it?
